Kigali, January 28th, 2011- Joining the Rwandan Diaspora and the government within the fight of grass thatched houses, Bralirwa has signed a sponsorship to Rwandan Diaspora Community through and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs concerning the Bye Bye Nyakatsi project that will be retrieving disadvantage and poor families from grass thatched houses in Bugesera District. Bye Bye Nyakatsi is a community development project that aims to build a model village in the Rilima sector in order to improve rural areas standard of living.

Bye Bye Nyakatsi project was originally implemented by the Rwandan Diaspora Community, during its IV Diaspora Global Convention that took place in Kigali from 13th to 15th December 2009. The project establishment has quickly gained popularity within the government and become one the major priorities.

Bye Bye Nyakatsi project is aiming to build a model village of 504 modern low cost houses in Bugesera District, in Nyabagendwa cell. The beneficiaries will be offered modern houses equipped of three bedrooms, biogas systems, water and electricity.  The village will also be compiled with infrastructures such as health centre, school and commercial areas.    

Bralirwa following its value to respect people, society and the environment has united to Bye Bye Nyakatsi project.

In the past years, Bralirwa has been involved within community development and project implementation as for example our contribution to the Global Fund in fighting HIV, Malaria and Tuberculosis, tree planting in schools, supporting the government hard work toward development within rural areas and poverty reduction among disadvantage and poor families. Pursuing in its involvement in the country development participation, Bralirwa has agreed to contribute to Bye Bye Nyakatsi project throughout a sponsorship of 21 million Rwandan Francs.


The agreement has been signed in presence of Mr Robert Masozera, the Managing Director of Diaspora at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs representing the government and Dr. Ismael Buchanan, the Secretary General of The Rwandan Diaspora and Mr. Sven Piederiet, Bralirwa’s Managing Director.


Mr. Sven Piederiet, Bralirwa’s Managing Director added that:” it is an honour, pleasure and our responsibility as a corporate citizen to contribute  to the improvement of Rwandan rural population’s standard of living, collaborating to the grass thatched houses removal and in general to the country development.
